Dear Beatriz and Bruce

On behalf of the staff and students of our ESL (English as a Second Language) program I want to thank you most sincerely for coming to speak to us this week.

Everyone enjoyed your presentation and it provided a very suitable backdrop for our visit the next day to the McCowan cabin and other features at Thomson Park. Someone spotted the McCowan tombstone (I guess I should say a McCowan stone) as soon as we entered the cemetery.

This week and next, we'll generate some discussion on the reasons for recent immigration to Scarborough and when we've received and edited some writing I'll be in touch with you.

Thanks again.

Sincerely

Janet Sheridan
Berner Trail School, Scarborough

PS: I'm enjoying Fairs and Frolics -- great stuff!

The links at the top of this page take you to a small sample of the essays that were received from the students of the English as a Second Language class at Berner Trail School, Scarborough. Congratulations on the very good work!  (Brings back memories of my own days as an ESL student in Toronto following my arrival from Argentina!)
